Heath is a great little town that has many choices when it comes to retail shopping or restaurants. There are many unique restaurants around while also providing common restaurant chains that you’ll find in most cities. Here are a few of the places you should check out when coming to Heath.
La Paloma Restaurant is a wonderful Mexican restaurant that’s been around the Heath area for a loooong time. Authentic Mexican with fresh ingredients, delicious beans, and some good salsa. There’s really nothing like freshly made salsa… If you are a “shop local” person than you’ll like La Paloma as well. They source their produce and other ingredients from local farms east of Columbus to provide the best in quality and taste. This ensures they know exactly what goes into their food making it healthier than most other choices in restaurants.
If you come to La Paloma you have to try the Sopapilla. This is a house special that’s essentially a deep-fried burrito but it’s 100% homemade and 100% delicious.
Massey’s Pizza is another local favorite that originally started in Columbus. Massey’s has been family owned since 1949 and is older than Heath itself! This pizza shop and Italian restaurant makes it’s own Italian sausage and meatballs so they are like none you’ve had before. They also make their own version of the Deep Dish pizza they call “The Godfather” which has to be the best name for a pizza that I’ve ever heard. With other staples like homemade pasta, salad with house dressing, stromboli, sub, and more recently chicken wings, Massey’s has a little slice of Italian for everyone. Visit their Heath location on south 30th St. near the Indian Mound Mall.
If you are looking for some sushi or a Japanese steakhouse, look no further than Kanji Japanese Steakhouse. If you look on Google you’ll find the majority of their reviews are 5-star excellent that people couldn’t have been happier going there. The sushi is top notch and the hibachi chefs put on quite a show for their customers. Check them out at the map location below.
Chains are everywhere and Heath is no different than any other suburb. If you’re looking for a nice sit-down restaurant you can visit Longhorn, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Applebees, or Bob Evans. All are in close proximity to the Indian Mounds mall so no need to travel very far after a long day of shopping. If you’re more of a fast food person but want something a little different, than Raising Cane’s is your choice. With some of the best chicken and a unique sauce that will wake up your taste buds, try it out. And trust me, make sure you get extra Texas toast instead of a second side. It’s that good.
Catering for Events
If you are looking for places to cater your events in Heath we have a few suggestions. Doug’s Farside Catering is definitely one to consider. They are available 7 days a week 24 hours a day so no matter when your event is, Doug’s can bring you the goods. Whether you are looking for breakfast favorites, boxed lunches, or a hot buffet for a dinner, Doug’s caters it. Got an idea for a menu yourself? Their team is more than happy to customize a menu to your needs.
Another good place in Heath is Creative Catering. Creative Catering has a more robust menu so you can see the choices they have. They have many options including bring lunch to your corporate event or maybe you want a summer BBQ or grill menu. They do that too. Did I mention dessert? Uniquely decorated sugar cookies are their signature dessert but they can provide more when you contact the owners. Remember this name the next time you reserve a banquet hall in Heath and you need food for the event.
Shopping in Heath
There’s plenty of shopping around Heath and probably is one of the better places to go east of Columbus. There’s no need to get stuck in traffic near Polaris or Easton, Indian Mound Mall has many of the same stores and some unique to the area. Elder-Beerman is unique to this mall but is often found in malls that are more rural in locations. For example, you won’t find one in Cleveland, Columbus, or Cincinnati but you will find one in Wooster, Marion, Heath/Newark, Zanesville, and Lancaster. Indian Mound also contains a Big Sandy’s Superstore. Another rare find in a mall but this companies stores are located throughout central and southern Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Sandy’s contains many things like furniture and home appliances. It’s comparable to a Sears, Value City Furniture, or another large home furnishings store.
For more bargain shopping you may want to visit the Heath Flea Market. You’ll find anything from kids toys to jewelry, pictures and glassware, music and movies, or even baseball and football cards. In the health and wellness industry you can visit locally owned and operated http://comfreycornerofheath.com/. Looking for natural herbs, spices, supplements, or one of a kind health-related gifts? Comfrey Corner has them all. Holistic health is what they promote and with chemical and toxins in everything, it’s great to see a company as such providing natural products to help individuals.
